Old Buckenham is located 17 miles south-west of Norwich on the B1077 from Diss to Attleborough (about 4 miles away), with a large green at its heart. The green is claimed to be the largest green (40 acres) in the country with several ponds, playing fields and host to the annual fair and surrounded by cottages.

North-east of the village is the site of a castle and Augustinian priory, virtually nothing remains except the square moat which surrounded the castle.

The windmill was built in 1818, with the largest diameter tower in England and five pairs of stones. It was in operation until 1926 producing flour and feed, its cap and sails were restored in 1996 and it is open to the public on the 2nd Sunday of each month and on Bank Holidays during the summer.

Old Buckenham Airfield once home for the 453rd Bomb Group back in 1943 -1945 which flew 259 missions over enemy territory in B24s is now home to a flying school. The annual Old Buckenham Airshow takes place in June and includes an open day and air display.
