According to research, Dereham is the dead centre of Norfolk! It is situated 15 miles west of Norwich, bypassed by the A47 and has good links with other surrounding towns. The town was originally established as a religious community by St Withburga in the 7th century. The mid-Norfolk railway runs between Dereham and Wymondham. There are Georgian buildings in the High Street and also dotted around the market place.
Market days are a Tuesday and a Friday and the farmers market day is the 2nd Saturday of the month, so along with the usual array of national retailers and a range of indepentant shops Dereham is a bit of a shoppers paradise! There are plenty of pubs, teashops, cafes, a museum housed in a 500 year old cottage, a night club and numerous take aways, making this town a haven for all ages.
